In the now widely shared clip, the teenage girl is heard telling her mother, “Mimi nishakuwa mwanamke, muawachane na mimi kabisa,” words that left many social media users surprised and concerned.
The argument reportedly started after the mother questioned the student over her recent behaviour and movements. However, the teenager appeared angry and unwilling to listen, leading to a tense exchange between the two.
At one point in the video, the mother is heard trying to calm the situation while demanding respect from her daughter. The Form Three student, however, continued to defend herself, insisting that she was old enough to make her own decisions.
The clip quickly spread across TikTok, Facebook, and X, attracting thousands of reactions from Kenyans. Many people criticised the student for speaking harshly to her mother, saying young people should always respect their parents despite disagreements.
Others, however, argued that the incident shows the growing challenges many parents are facing while raising teenagers in the age of social media and peer pressure.
Several users also called on parents to create better communication with their children to avoid such public confrontations at home.
