Reports indicate that the student from Mwongoli High School had been picked from school by her mother to attend the burial ceremony of her grandfather.

According to witnesses and preliminary reports, the girl met her boyfriend during the funeral gathering held in Ntana Village, Nyangwekoa Sub-location, Ekerenyo Sub-county.
The two are said to have interacted normally at first, with nothing unusual raising alarm among attendees. However, tensions reportedly escalated later in the night.
The situation took a tragic turn around 1 a.m. when the suspect allegedly attacked the student with a knife, leaving her fatally injured.

After the incident, the suspect is reported to have left the scene and returned home. Authorities say he later died by suicide, bringing another layer of tragedy to an already heartbreaking case.
