On Thursday, a woman by the name Joicy reportedly died after burning herself with acid due to anger, sadness, and heartbreak after she returned home from Saudi Arabia, where she had worked for seven years.
Her return home turned into a painful moment after she discovered shocking things about her past relationship.
However, before she took her life, the lady revealed how she trusted her ex-boyfriend more than even her own parents. She said that even though they had broken up, she still loved him deeply and believed he would never betray her trust.
She added that because of the love she had for her boyfriend, she chose to send all her salary to him so that he could keep it safely for her. She worked very hard abroad, hoping to come back and enjoy the fruits of her labor.
However, when she returned, she allegedly found that the man had misused the money, which was Ksh 850,999 that she had worked for during seven years in a foreign land.
She further claimed that the boyfriend had only built her a poorly constructed house and later disappeared with the remaining money. This left her shocked, heartbroken, and hopeless.
Before she poured acid on her body, the lady reportedly asked her parents for forgiveness. She said that what her ex-boyfriend did to her was too painful, and she felt she could not continue living with that pain.
Many Kenyans reacted with sadness after the story spread online, expressing sympathy and also discussing the dangers of blind trust in relationships, especially when it comes to money matters.
