A Nyeri mother, who is a Kenyan gospel artist, is in deep pain after losing her young daughter, who passed away only a few months after her graduation.
She described her daughter as a bright and caring young woman whose future was full of promise before illness cut her life short.
Speaking during an interview with one of the media houses, the grieving mother said her daughter battled a long and painful illness.
The mother, identified as Monica Nyambura, explained that she tried everything she could to save her life, taking her to hospital many times and praying for her recovery.
“I did my best, but things did not go the way I hoped,” she said with a heavy heart.
The devastated mother revealed that she took her daughter to several hospitals as her condition continued to get worse.
Doctors later confirmed that her daughter was fighting Cancer, and her health kept declining day by day. Monica said the last hospital she took her to was Kenyatta National Hospital, hoping specialists would help her recover.
“Every time we moved to a new hospital, I kept hoping she would get better, but things were getting worse,” she recalled.
Monica explained that when doctors told her that her daughter’s days were already numbered, she felt her heart break. She looked at her child, tears filling her eyes, and tried to be strong.
Her daughter then looked at her and told her, “Mum, I leave everything to God.” Those words still echo in Monica’s mind.
Later, when the hospital asked them to leave the ward, her daughter held her hand tightly and begged her not to go.
“Don’t leave me, Mum. I am scared. I don’t want to be alone,” she told her. Those were some of the most painful words Monica has ever heard.
Moments before taking her last breath, the young woman gave her mother her phone PINs and whispered that she loved her.
Monica said that losing her daughter has left a wound that will take a long time to heal.
“Her death still hurts me every day. I miss her so much,” she said.
