In Nairobi County on Saturday, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrested a 37-year-old woman after linking her to a dangerous gang that has been terrorising residents in the region.
The suspect is alleged to be a key figure within the criminal network and is believed to have played a central role in coordinating the gang’s activities.
For several months, the group has been accused of attacking residents, injuring victims, stealing property, and spreading fear across several parts of the county.
According to police sources, the woman allegedly worked closely with gang members by identifying wealthy individuals in the area and sharing information about their movements.
She is also suspected of assisting in planning attacks and helping members escape after committing crimes.
“She was not just a bystander. She was giving them locations and supporting their actions,” a DCI officer revealed.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations confirmed that the suspect, identified as Mumeni Nguma, will be arraigned in court on Monday next week.
She is expected to face charges alongside several other gang members who were previously arrested for robbery with violence.
Authorities said investigations are still ongoing as officers pursue additional suspects and attempt to recover stolen property linked to the gang.
Residents of Garissa have welcomed the arrest, saying it has restored a sense of safety as police intensify operations against organised crime in the region.
