Kenya Pipeline Company Appoints Interim MD Amid Probe on Joe Sang

The Kenya Pipeline Company has appointed its General Manager for Finance, Pius Mwendwa, to temporarily take over the duties of Managing Director following recent developments involving the current office holder, Joe Sang.

In a statement dated April 3, the company’s Board of Directors said it had taken note of ongoing reports and developments affecting Joe Sang and other individuals.

The interim appointment comes at a time when Sang is among officials assisting the Directorate of Criminal Investigations in an investigation into alleged financial irregularities linked to claims of substandard fuel imports in the energy sector.

According to the Board, it is closely monitoring the situation and remains in contact with relevant authorities to better understand the nature and scope of the allegations.

To ensure smooth operations within the company, the Board confirmed that Pius Mwendwa will oversee the responsibilities of Managing Director during the interim period.

The company further assured stakeholders, shareholders, and the general public that its operations remain stable and have not been affected by the ongoing developments.

“The Board will provide further guidance in due course,” said Board Chairman Faith Bett-Boinett in the statement.
