Residents of Gatundu South were left in shock after a chief was reportedly buried in less than ten minutes without any formal funeral ceremony following a heated family dispute over land.
In a video circulating on social media, the quick burial is seen taking place amid rising tension between two families — the family of the deceased man’s first wife and that of his second wife, who have reportedly been in a long-standing conflict over ownership of a piece of land.
According to reports, both families have been claiming ownership of the land, with neither side willing to back down.
“This land is ours, and we will not allow anyone to take it,” one family member was reportedly heard saying.
There were also claims that both sides had initially planned to bury the deceased, but access to the body was allegedly restricted by close relatives, escalating tensions further.
It is further alleged that threats were issued, warning that if either family attempted to proceed with the burial, hired goons would be mobilized to attack them.
“If they dare touch that body, we will deal with them,” a source claimed.
In the viral video, four men are seen quickly lowering the casket into the grave as a small crowd watches in confusion and fear, with the tense atmosphere suggesting possible confrontation.
Authorities have not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident.
