Westlands Parliamentary Race Heats Up as Moses Budamba Mudavadi Declares Interest Ahead of 2027 Elections

The contest for the Westlands parliamentary seat is intensifying ahead of the 2027 General Election, with new entrants making their intentions known.

One of the latest to express interest is Moses Budamba Mudavadi, son of Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, who is reportedly gaining popularity in one of Nairobi’s most competitive constituencies.

Recognized for his humility, determination, and engaging personality, Budamba Mudavadi aims to introduce a focused, development-oriented strategy to politics in Westlands.

If approved, he intends to run on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket, emphasizing community service, youth involvement, and constituency development.

“This is my personal choice, and I haven't been swayed by anyone. My main goal is to ensure that the people of Westlands benefit from genuine grassroots services,” he told local media.

While he draws inspiration from his father’s experiences, Budamba Mudavadi insists he seeks to establish his own political identity and be judged on his individual qualities.

Westlands, one of Nairobi’s 17 constituencies, encompasses a mix of affluent and lower-income areas, including Runda, Muthaiga, Kitisuru, Kangemi, and Kibagare.

The constituency is divided into five wards: Kitisuru, Parklands/Highridge, Karura, Kangemi, and Mountain View, creating a diverse political environment.

Budamba Mudavadi will face strong competition from established candidates such as former LSK President Nelson Havi, Mike Gumo, Matere, and Alvin Olando. He urged voters to focus on candidates’ agendas and performance rather than family background, tribe, or religion when selecting their representative.

As the campaigns progress, Budamba Mudavadi is positioning himself as a youthful, independent advocate committed to development and service, aiming to make a meaningful difference in Westlands.
