Tragedy in West Uyoma: MCA Justus Oguta Mourns Son Lost in Fatal Hit-and-Run

Rarieda Constituency MP Otiende Amollo has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Hon. Justus Oguta, MCA West Uyoma, following the tragic death of their son, Blair Otieno Oguta. 

The young man lost his life on March 1, 2026, after being involved in a hit-and-run accident in Machakos County. Blair, described by family and friends as a bright and promising university student, succumbed to the injuries sustained during the crash. 

The incident has sent shockwaves across the West Uyoma community, leaving many in mourning and calling for road safety awareness.

Reports indicate that Blair’s body was taken to a mortuary pending autopsy and further investigations, as police continue to determine the exact circumstances leading to the accident. 

Authorities at the scene confirmed that an inquiry has been launched to establish what happened prior to the tragic collision. The West Uyoma MCA, Hon. 

Justus Oguta, has been at the center of grief, receiving support from constituents and political colleagues alike, as the community rallies around the bereaved family.

Speaking on X (formerly Twitter), MP Otiende Amollo expressed his sorrow and praised Blair’s potential, describing him as a young man with a bright future ahead. 

“Condolences to Hon. & Mrs. Oguta & the entire family, West Uyoma Community & all who knew Blair! Rest In Power Wuod Owila!” Otiende wrote, capturing the sentiments of many who knew the family.

Meanwhile, the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has reported that 5,000 Kenyans lost their lives in road accidents in 2025, highlighting the urgent need for stronger road safety measures. 

In response, President William Ruto has directed the Transport Cabinet Secretary to install CCTV cameras along major highways in key counties to reduce accidents and improve traffic management.
