A cloud of sadness has covered Machakos County after a tragic road accident claimed the lives of a popular bishop and his entire family. Bishop Mathew Akine, who was well known in the area for his strong faith and community work, died alongside his wife and children in the terrible crash.
According to reports from local residents, the family was on their way to church when the heartbreaking incident happened. News of their sudden death has left many people in shock and deep sorrow.
According to eyewitnesses who spoke after the accident, the family was driving peacefully along the road when a speeding truck tried to overtake them.
In the process, the truck driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle. The truck then rammed into the family’s car, causing a very serious crash that left the vehicle badly damaged.
People who arrived at the scene said the accident was so severe that it caused panic among other motorists and nearby residents.
Sadly, Bishop Akine was reportedly thrown out of the car due to the strong impact of the collision. Witnesses say that moments later another oncoming vehicle hit him, causing very serious injuries.
His wife and children also suffered critical injuries inside the car during the crash. Unfortunately, none of the family members survived the tragic accident.
Police officers and emergency responders later arrived at the scene and moved the bodies to Machakos Referral Hospital morgue as investigations into the accident began.
The tragedy has caused deep pain among residents, church members, and friends who knew the bishop and his family.
Many residents have now urged the government and road safety authorities to take stronger action to reduce speeding and careless driving on the roads.
