ODM Sets New Date for Migori County Delegates’ Elections

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has announced fresh arrangements for the election of county delegates in Migori County, now scheduled for Sunday, March 22, 2026, running from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.

The elections were initially set for March 13, 2026, but were postponed. In a statement, NECC chairperson Emily Awitta cited the need for proper coordination and urged party members to remain patient while new timelines were communicated.

“These elections are part of our wider effort to restructure the party machinery and ensure robust local participation,” Awitta said, emphasising the importance of adherence to the application process.

Delegate Fees and Application Process

The National Elections Coordinating Committee (NECC) has outlined fees based on the positions aspirants seek:

Non-executive roles: KSh 1,000
Positions for women, youth, persons with disability, and other special interest groups: KSh 2,500
Executive roles (excluding chairperson): KSh 5,000
County chairperson: KSh 10,000

Payments are to be made via the party’s designated Paybill number 985900.

Focus on Inclusive Representation

ODM’s grassroots elections aim to strengthen organisational cohesion and ensure inclusive representation at the county level.

Party officials stressed that these structured elections will particularly empower women, youth, and persons with disabilities to participate meaningfully in leadership selection.

Awitta noted, “The party remains committed to ensuring that all eligible delegates have a fair opportunity to participate in the leadership selection process.”

The March 22 elections are a significant milestone in ODM’s nationwide process to reorganise county-level leadership, with party members now preparing to contest positions and influence the local party agenda.
