A high school teacher who was recently found in a lodging with his student, a Form Three girl, has reportedly defended himself while at the police station. The incident has shocked many people in the area and raised serious concerns about the relationship between teachers and students.
According to reports, the teacher, who is attached to a school in Eldoret, was arrested on Tuesday together with the student. The two were found inside a lodging under circumstances that are still being investigated. Police officers acted after receiving information from concerned individuals. The teacher is currently in custody and is expected to appear in court on Monday.
Before his court appearance, the teacher has denied any wrongdoing. While speaking to police officers, he claimed that he was innocent and that the student was the one who contacted him.
He alleged that the girl called him and asked him to meet her at the lodging, saying she wanted to discuss important academic matters. He explained that since she was his student, he did not suspect anything wrong and agreed to meet her.
The situation changed when the student’s father reportedly arrived at the lodging and found them together. He immediately raised alarm and accused the teacher of behaving in an inappropriate manner.
In his defense, the teacher insisted that he had no bad intentions and said he did not plan to do anything wrong with the student.
Police officers are still holding the teacher as investigations continue. Authorities have stated that the matter is serious and will be handled according to the law.
The teacher is expected to remain in custody until he is taken to court, where the case will be heard and a decision made.
