Moses Kuria Slams Rigathi Gachagua for Ignoring Development Achievements in Murang’a, Focuses on Party Politics

Former Economic Advisor to the President, Mr. Moses Kuria, has criticized Rigathi Gachagua over what he calls the political habit of attacking fellow politicians from his own home region instead of acknowledging their achievements.

Taking to his official X handle, Kuria highlighted several development projects successfully implemented in Murang'a County under the leadership of Senator Irungu Kang'ata.

"He can't see the good things done in Murang'a County. But what he wants to know is whether Kang'ata is in UDA or DCP party," Kuria posted.

Gachagua’s DCP is actively mobilizing grassroots support through rallies, funerals, and church gatherings, positioning itself as the voice of the region against the Ruto-Kindiki axis in UDA.

Kuria, meanwhile, has positioned himself as a defender of the current administration, warning against what he terms Gachagua’s “despotism” and intolerance.

Political analysts note that the focus on party affiliation rather than policy delivery plays directly into the strategies of both camps. One anonymous Mt Kenya MP remarked, “The people are watching. They don’t just want to know the party letter; they want to know who will actually protect their interests when the dust settles.”

With Gachagua’s Kiharu rally sending shockwaves and Kuria’s sharp rebuttal trending nationwide, the political contest in Mt Kenya is heating up. The battle lines for the 2027 elections are being drawn through rallies, social media, and court filings.

On March 23, 2026, Kuria took to social media once again to warn Murang’a residents against being swayed by Gachagua’s influence, signaling an intensification of political activity in the region.
