Kenya Power Announces Wednesday Blackouts in 8 Counties

Kenya Power and Lighting Company has announced scheduled power interruptions in eight counties on Wednesday, March 11, as part of routine electricity network maintenance.

In a notice issued on Tuesday, the utility company said the affected counties include Nairobi, Machakos, Uasin Gishu, Bungoma, Kakamega, Kisumu, Nyeri, and Kiambu. The outages will take place at different times depending on the location.

Areas Affected in Nairobi

In Nairobi County, electricity will be interrupted in parts of Parklands between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

Areas expected to be affected include:
Ojijo Road
Wambugu Road
Chiromo Road
Muthithi Road

Meanwhile, parts of Kilimani and Ngong Road will experience outages from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., affecting areas such as:
Muchai Drive
Kabarnet Road
Sections around Coptic Hospital
China Centre

Machakos and Uasin Gishu

In Machakos County, power will be switched off along Namanga Road and parts of Kathiani, including:
Mumbuni
Mutituni
Mua
Kyasila
Mitaboni

The outage will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Residents in parts of Uasin Gishu County will also experience interruptions between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. in areas including:
Kesses
Ketiplong
Ngecheck
Chorowet
Lelmokwo
Ngeria Girls area

Other Counties Affected

In Bungoma County, the outage will affect areas around Nzoia Sugar Factory, including Nzoia Sudi, Bukembe, and Machinjoni.

Parts of Kakamega County around Lutaso Market and Navakholo Market will also be affected, including Khalanda Market, Chebuyusi Secondary School, and Ingotse Secondary School.

In Kisumu County, electricity supply will be interrupted around Koru Market from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., affecting Koru Mission Hospital, Kapkoros Factory, and nearby areas.

Residents in Nyeri County around Rititi Market and Gatunganga Market will experience outages from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., affecting nearby villages, schools, and coffee factories.

Meanwhile, in Kiambu County, the interruption will affect St. Linda, Gatong’ora, Mutonya, and surrounding areas along the bypass during the same hours.

Kenya Power advised residents and businesses in the affected regions to plan accordingly during the maintenance period.
