Johana Ng’eno to Be Buried on Friday After Requiem and Vigil

The family of the late Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ng’eno has confirmed that his burial will take place on Friday, March 6, following consultations between relatives and political leaders in Narok County.

The arrangements were finalised during a meeting at the MP’s home after the tragic helicopter crash in Chepkiep, Mosop Constituency, Nandi County on February 28, which claimed Ng’eno and four others.

A requiem mass is scheduled for Wednesday, March 4, at Nairobi Baptist Church, allowing leaders, friends, and constituents to pay their respects in the capital.

This will be followed by a night vigil on Thursday, March 5, in line with Kipsigis traditions, honouring the cultural rites of the late MP and the other victims.

Narok Governor Patrick Ole Ntutu, who is Ng’eno’s father-in-law, said that Ng’eno and Wycliffe Kiprotich Rono’s bodies will spend the night at his home as they were married.

He added that the remaining four victims, who were unmarried, would also be brought home in accordance with custom.

The joint burial service will be held at Emurua Dikirr Primary School, after which the bodies will be taken to their respective family homes for separate interments later on Friday.

President William Ruto visited the family at their Karen residence, describing Ng’eno as a hardworking and progressive leader who contributed to national development, including support for the government’s Affordable Housing Programme.

Governor Ntutu urged politicians to respect the mourning period and avoid politicising the tragedy, emphasising that the focus should remain on honouring the lives that were lost.
