“I Went to Nigeria for a Job but It Was Not What I Expected,” Kenyan Lady Recounts Terrifying Ordeal

A Kenyan lady has shared a painful story about the difficult experience she went through after traveling to Nigeria for work. Speaking during an interview with Tales Extra, the woman identified as Moreen opened up about the torture and abuse she claims she faced while working in the foreign country.

According to Moreen, when she left Kenya she believed she was going to work as a househelp in Nigeria. She said the job opportunity had been explained to her before she traveled, and she expected to do normal house duties. However, things reportedly changed soon after she arrived at her employer’s home.

In her statement, Moreen said she became worried and afraid for her safety when her boss allegedly introduced tasks that she had never expected.

She explained that some of the duties made her very uncomfortable and left her feeling scared about her life.

Moreen further claimed that she was sometimes forced to clean strange creatures that were kept inside the house. She said she was warned not to eat before those creatures were fed first, which made the situation even more frightening for her.

She added that despite the fear and the difficult conditions, she had no choice but to continue working because she was in a foreign country and had limited options.

According to her, the situation became even harder as she also faced mistreatment from the employer’s son at times.

Moreen said she never believed she would finish her contract and return home safely. However, she expressed gratitude that she eventually managed to leave Nigeria and travel back to Kenya safely.

After her story was shared online, many Kenyans reacted with mixed emotions. Some expressed sympathy and encouraged job seekers to be careful when accepting work opportunities abroad, while others called for stronger protections for Kenyans working in foreign countries.
