Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, alongside Kalonzo Musyoka, Justin Muturi, and Mithika Linturi, visited Kawira Mwangaza in Meru County following her recent impeachment.

The visit formed part of the leaders’ ongoing tour of the county and was aimed at expressing solidarity with Mwangaza during what they described as a challenging political moment.

The high-profile meeting attracted attention from local leaders and residents eager to witness the gathering.

Leaders Express Support

During the visit, Gachagua described Mwangaza’s impeachment as “a matter of concern”, urging political leaders in Meru to embrace dialogue and unity. He emphasized the need for fairness in governance and representation for local communities.

Kalonzo Musyoka also called for unity among leaders and residents, stating that political disagreements should not overshadow the need for development and service delivery in the county. He noted that leaders should focus on improving the livelihoods of residents despite political differences.

Justin Muturi and Mithika Linturi praised Mwangaza’s leadership and resilience, urging Kenyans to respect democratic processes while ensuring accountability mechanisms remain fair and transparent.

They cautioned against actions that could be perceived as politically motivated.

Residents Hope for Stability

Residents who interacted with the visiting leaders expressed hope that the visit would help promote stability and constructive political engagement in the county.

Many believe the attention from national leaders could influence future political decisions and strengthen public trust in governance.

Mwangaza welcomed the delegation warmly and thanked them for standing with her during the aftermath of her impeachment.

She reaffirmed her commitment to public service, saying her focus remains on serving the people of Meru despite the political setback.

Analysts See Political Realignments

Political observers say the visit could signal emerging alliances and strategic positioning ahead of future elections. Analysts note that such engagements often shape local political narratives and influence voter sentiment in key counties.

The leaders concluded their visit by meeting local party officials and community representatives, pledging continued support for initiatives aimed at improving social and economic development in Meru while reinforcing the importance of democratic principles.
