DP Kithure Kindiki Refutes Claims of Rift Between Late MP Johana Ng'eno and President Ruto

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has dismissed claims that the late Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ng'eno had a strained relationship with President William Ruto.

Speaking on Wednesday, March 4, during Ng'eno's requiem mass in Nairobi, Kindiki emphasized that the late MP was on good terms with the Head of State and fully supported his leadership.

He recounted a past event where Ng'eno advised him on how to work effectively with President Ruto following his appointment as Deputy President.

“He told me that if I wanted to succeed, I must stand behind President Ruto and support him to deliver for Kenya. So, if anybody had any doubt that the late Johana Ng'eno was a friend and supporter of the President, that doubt must be removed today through the witness statement that I am providing,” Kindiki stated.

Kindiki eulogized Ng'eno as a humble and committed leader who prioritized delivering on his mandate to the people who elected him.

“I want to agree with those who said that many people may have underrated the intelligence, wit, and leadership quality of Johana Ng'eno,” he added.

He also assured the people of Emurua Dikirr that the government would ensure all development projects envisioned by the late MP would be carried forward.

Additionally, Kindiki revealed that the state would cover the burial expenses for Ng'eno and the five other occupants who perished in the helicopter crash.

The DP’s sentiments were echoed by Oburu Odinga, ODM Party Leader, who condemned politicians attempting to politicize Ng'eno's death for personal gain. Odinga reminded leaders that public officials are human and susceptible to accidents like any other citizen.

Meanwhile, allegations have surfaced suggesting that Ng'eno may have been targeted due to his outspoken political views.

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua claimed that the late MP was mentioned in a secretly recorded audio obtained by intelligence services and called for an immediate probe into the helicopter crash.

The government has since launched an official inquiry to determine the circumstances that led to the tragic accident.
