DCI Launches Probe into Mysterious Disappearance of Former CS Raphael Tuju

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has launched investigations into the mysterious disappearance of former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju.

In a statement issued on Sunday, March 22, the DCI confirmed that the matter was formally reported and is now under active investigation.

“The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has launched investigations into the reported disappearance of Hon. Raphael Tuju following a missing person report lodged at Karen Police Station,” the statement read.

According to the agency, Tuju was reported missing by his family on Sunday, March 22, 2026. His vehicle was later found abandoned under suspicious circumstances along Miotoni Lane in Karen, Nairobi, with its hazard lights still on.

DCI further revealed that a security guard from a nearby institution raised the alarm, prompting a swift response by officers from Karen Police Station. Crime Scene Investigators processed the area, and the vehicle was towed to the station for forensic examination.

Efforts to reach Tuju have so far been unsuccessful, with investigators confirming that his mobile phone remains switched off. A specialized team has been deployed and is working with other government agencies to establish his whereabouts.

“The investigating team is utilizing all available resources and techniques to determine the circumstances surrounding his disappearance,” the DCI stated.

However, the agency noted a key challenge in the probe, revealing that attempts to access Tuju’s residence along Mwitu Drive were denied by family members. Authorities have urged full cooperation to facilitate a swift and thorough investigation.

Notably, Tuju had earlier raised concerns about his safety after filing a report at Karen Police Station on Saturday, March 21. He claimed he had been followed by a white Toyota Land Cruiser 70 Series vehicle without number plates.

Later that evening, Tuju was expected to appear on Ramogi FM at around 7 pm but failed to show up, raising immediate concern among family and associates.

The situation escalated on Sunday when his son, Mano Tuju, received a call from the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) at Karen Police Station informing him that his father’s car had been found abandoned.

Following the discovery, the family filed a missing person report under OB 17/22/03/2026, deepening fears over the former CS’s safety.
Investigations are ongoing as authorities work to unravel the circumstances behind his disappearance.
