Breaking News: Jubilee Deputy Leader Warns Opposition Strategy Could Weaken Parties Ahead of 2027 Elections

Jubilee Party Deputy Leader Jeremiah Kioni has criticised the strategy being used by a section of the opposition, saying it risks weakening parties that are part of the broader coalition preparing for the 2027 General Election.

Speaking during a political forum, Jeremiah Kioni faulted the opposition team led by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, arguing that their nationwide tours have failed to address the needs of grassroots leaders seeking smaller elective positions.

According to Kioni, while the opposition leaders have been moving across the country to mobilise support, they have overlooked a key element of political organisation by not creating space for aspirants eyeing parliamentary and other local seats.

He warned that the approach could discourage potential candidates from parties allied to the opposition, including members of the Jubilee Party who are preparing to contest in upcoming elections.

Kioni noted that successful political movements are built from the ground up and require active participation from aspirants at all levels, including Members of Parliament, Members of County Assembly, and other local leaders.

“The opposition leaders have been walking around the country seeking support, but they are making a major mistake by not involving those who want to contest for smaller seats,” Kioni said.

He urged Jubilee members to take initiative and begin organising themselves at the grassroots level rather than waiting for direction from the national opposition leadership.

The former Ndaragwa MP called on Jubilee aspirants to create forums where they can engage with voters and launch early campaigns in their respective constituencies.

Kioni emphasised that local campaigns will play a crucial role in strengthening the party’s presence across the country ahead of the 2027 polls.

He maintained that empowering grassroots leaders will help rebuild Jubilee’s political influence while ensuring the opposition remains competitive in future elections.
