Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Chief of Defence Forces of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), has made a striking declaration regarding Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF), condemning their actions in El Fasher as one of the worst atrocities in Africa’s history.
Through his posts on X (formerly Twitter), Gen. Muhoozi warned that the RSF would face accountability for the killings of civilians, referring to victims as “our Black brothers and sisters.”
He also offered Uganda’s military support to South Sudanese forces to counter the RSF threat.
“If the African Union is serious about justice for El Fasher, I am ready with the UPDF to fight the RSF, provided enough support is received,” Gen. Muhoozi stated.
He emphasized that the UPDF could defeat the RSF within two weeks, expressing willingness to mobilize if funding and backing were provided through the African Union.
This is Gen. Muhoozi’s second high-profile comment on the Sudan conflict. His previous remark about potentially capturing Khartoum sparked diplomatic tensions between Uganda and Sudan, with Sudan demanding an official apology.
Observers are now questioning whether Gen. Muhoozi’s latest statements signal serious military intent or are politically motivated rhetoric. The comments have stirred debate across East Africa about Uganda’s role in regional security and intervention in Sudan’s ongoing crisis.
