Shock as Police Constable Caught Stealing Neighbor's Yams in Bungoma, Asks for Forgiveness and Is Released From Custody

Residents of Bungoma County were left in shock after a police constable was caught stealing yams from his neighbor’s farm early Wednesday morning. The incident happened at around 5:00 AM when most people were still asleep.

According to reports from the area, the neighbor heard unusual movements coming from his farm. At first, he thought it could have been an animal destroying crops.

However, when he decided to move closer and check what was happening, he was surprised by what he saw. The man allegedly found the police officer with a sack full of freshly harvested yams on his back.

The neighbor immediately raised an alarm, attracting villagers who quickly gathered at the farm. Residents could not believe that a serving police officer could be involved in such an act. Some of them expressed anger, while others remained silent in disbelief.

The villagers later escorted the officer to a nearby police station. While at the station, the officer reportedly pleaded for forgiveness.

He explained that he was on leave and was facing serious financial struggles. He claimed that his children had slept hungry for three days and he was only trying to get food for them.

In a surprising turn of events, the officer was released from custody after pleading for mercy. Sources indicate that he is expected to resume his duties once his leave ends.

The incident has sparked mixed reactions among residents, with some sympathizing with him while others questioning the conduct expected from law enforcement officers.
