Savula Declares Western Kenya Swinging Toward Ruto Ahead of 2027 Polls

Kakamega Deputy Governor Ayub Savula has sparked political debate in Western Kenya, asserting that the region is increasingly leaning toward President William Ruto as the 2027 General Election approaches.

Speaking at a local political gathering, Savula said the era when a single leader dictated the political mood of the Mulembe Nation is over.

He insisted that many regional leaders are quietly gravitating toward the President, drawn by development initiatives and stronger engagement from the national government.

Savula challenged claims that DAP-K leader Eugene Wamalwa commands the political direction in Western Kenya, arguing instead that voter preferences are shifting toward tangible development rather than party loyalty.

He also hinted that Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, a known critic of the national government, might be reconsidering his public stance, exploring ways to cooperate with the President behind the scenes.

The deputy governor, who recently joined the ruling UDA party, pledged to rally support from millions of voters in the region for Ruto’s re-election bid.

Analysts, however, caution that Western Kenya remains politically divided, with Natembeya’s Tawe Movement positioning itself as a significant alternative voice.

With campaigns intensifying, the political dynamics in Western Kenya are emerging as a potential game-changer in the contest for the presidency in 2027.
