Former Roslyn Akombe has cautioned Kenyans against being misled by current political maneuvers, particularly those involving the Orange Democratic Movement leadership fighting President William Ruto’s government.
Akombe singled out Edwin Sifuna and Babu Owino, suggesting that their opposition may actually be orchestrated under Ruto’s influence to win over dissenting groups, only for them to eventually realign with the President before the 2027 elections.
“They ‘manufacture’ a charismatic messiah, throw a few teargas canisters at him (yes it is often a him) and present him as someone fighting power,” Akombe posted on X on Monday.
She warned that ordinary citizens often fall for such political theatrics, only to see leaders reuniting with those they initially appeared to oppose.
“We, who love drama, fall for the ruse. Soon they will be on the same table having handshakes. The ordinary citizen is on the menu,” she said, emphasizing that everyday Kenyans bear the consequences as resources and influence are redistributed among political elites.
Akombe urged the public to stop being gullible, advising them to reject figures who appear to be aligned with or working for Ruto.
She also highlighted other members of the so-called Linda Mwananchi group, including James Orengo, activist Brian Weke, and Caleb Amisi.
Her warning comes amid intensifying political activity and factional alignments within the opposition, as parties and leaders position themselves for the 2027 general election.
