Radio 47 has dismissed reports alleging that President William Ruto’s aide Farouk Kibet confronted Moses Wetangula or Musalia Mudavadi.
In a statement shared on Instagram, the station termed the allegations false, clarifying that Kibet had not expressed anger toward the two leaders over the growing popularity of Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.
Online Speculation
Claims circulating on social media suggested tensions within the Kenya Kwanza coalition, allegedly triggered by Sifuna’s rising influence in Western Kenya — a region politically associated with Wetangula and Mudavadi.
However, Radio 47 urged the public to treat the reports as misleading, stating that no such confrontation had occurred.
Sifuna’s Political Spotlight
Sifuna, a senior figure in the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), has recently increased his visibility in Western Kenya, drawing attention from both allies and rivals.
At the same time, he is navigating internal party disputes. On February 11, 2026, ODM’s National Executive Committee voted to remove him as Secretary General over alleged indiscipline.
Deputy Secretary General Catherine Omanyo was appointed in an acting capacity following the decision.
Sifuna subsequently challenged the resolution at the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal, which temporarily suspended the removal pending a full hearing.
Days later, on February 15, he attended the “Linda Mwananchi” rally in Kitengela alongside Siaya Senator James Orengo and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino.
The rally attracted a significant crowd despite reports that police used teargas and fired shots in the air to disperse sections of attendees.
Addressing supporters, Sifuna reaffirmed his commitment to grassroots engagement and defending democratic space.
Radio 47’s clarification appears to ease speculation that Sifuna’s growing political profile had sparked confrontation among senior government figures.
