MP Kaluma Warns of Political Targeting in Nairobi

Nairobi MP James Kaluma has accused political forces of abandoning Babu Owino in favor of rival Gakuya, describing the move as being dropped like a “hot potato.”

Kaluma claims the maneuver is part of a wider strategy to weaken opposition figures ahead of the 2027 elections, warning that Edwin Sifuna may be the next target in a coordinated political scheme.

Allegations of Targeted Attacks

The MP suggested that rival factions are using both media narratives and internal party mechanisms to isolate key leaders.

He expressed concern over the apparent disregard for democratic principles in sidelining influential politicians and cautioned that such tactics risk alienating voters expecting fair competition.

Kaluma urged party leadership to:

Uphold fairness

Protect members’ interests

Avoid targeting individuals for personal gain

He also called on supporters to remain vigilant and united in the face of what he described as calculated political marginalization.

Implications for Nairobi Politics

According to Kaluma, the rapid shifts in political favoritism are creating uncertainty and instability within constituencies.

Analysts note that these developments could reshape political dynamics in Nairobi and influence national party strategies, potentially affecting both Babu Owino and Sifuna’s political prospects.

Kaluma concluded by emphasizing that politicians should prioritize public service over internal rivalries and reminded that voters will judge those who manipulate political processes unfairly.
