Kasmuel McOure Heckled by Youths, Forced to Leave Gathering

Activist Kasmuel McOure was forced to leave a public gathering after a hostile group of young people heckled him and refused to let him address the crowd.

In a video now circulating widely online, members of the crowd are heard shouting at him and calling him a traitor. Some voices warned him not to return. As tensions rose, McOure was seen walking away from the scene.

From Protest Hero to Political Shift

McOure first rose to national prominence during the 2024 anti-government protests, where he was frequently seen at the forefront of demonstrations. Many young Kenyans rallied behind him, especially when reports emerged that he had been abducted at the height of the unrest.

However, his political journey later took a new direction when he joined the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM). The move brought him closer to the late Raila Odinga, and eventually into proximity with President William Ruto.

At one point, McOure was photographed meeting President Ruto—an encounter that triggered debate among his former supporters. For some Gen Z activists, that meeting marked a turning point in how they viewed his political alignment.
Reflections on Raila’s Support

In an earlier interview following Raila Odinga’s death, McOure described the former Prime Minister as a generous mentor.

He claimed that Raila had supported him financially on multiple occasions without being asked, stating that the smallest amount he received was KSh 100,000, while the highest was about $8,000 during a trip to the United States. He expressed gratitude for the opportunities and guidance he received.

Mixed Reactions

Social media reactions to the latest incident have been divided. Some users argued that McOure made his political choices and must accept the consequences.

Others condemned the act of chasing him away, saying political differences should be addressed through dialogue rather than hostility.

The episode highlights lingering tensions among young Kenyans who were deeply involved in past protests. As political alignments continue to shift, emotions remain high both on the streets and across digital platforms.

For now, Kasmuel McOure remains a figure navigating two political worlds—once celebrated by Gen Z protesters, now questioned by some of the same voices that previously defended him.
