Huge Crowds Jam Keroka as Natembeya, Matiang’i Lead United Opposition Rally

Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya on Monday shared photos showing massive crowds that turned up for a political rally in Keroka town, an event hosted by former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i.

In his message following the rally, Natembeya thanked residents for the overwhelming turnout, posting: “Asante Keroka 🙏,” and commending them for what he described as strong support for the United Opposition.

“A People United Can Never Be Defeated”
Speaking after the event, Natembeya emphasized that the unity witnessed in Keroka and nearby Ekerenyo in Nyamira County signals renewed momentum for the opposition coalition.

“A people united on a purpose can never be defeated,” he declared, adding that residents of Nyamira and Kisii counties had demonstrated clear backing for Dr. Matiang’i’s political journey. Natembeya congratulated the former CS and welcomed him to what he termed “the winning team.”

The rally drew thousands of residents from across the Gusii region, reflecting heightened political activity ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Opposition Heavyweights Present

The event brought together several prominent opposition figures, including Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, DAP-Kenya leader Eugene Wamalwa, and former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya, alongside local leaders from Kisii County.

Leaders who addressed the gathering urged citizens to remain united and focused, stressing that unity would be key to achieving their shared objective of forming the next government.

Gusii Region Emerging as Political Battleground
Monday’s rally in Keroka highlights the strategic importance of the Gusii region as political alignments begin to take shape.

With opposition leaders intensifying mobilization campaigns across the country, Nyamira and Kisii counties appear to be central in efforts to consolidate support.

Natembeya reiterated that the voice of the people must be respected and assured residents that the opposition would continue engaging them closely.

As 2027 approaches, such rallies are expected to increase, setting the stage for what could be a fiercely contested election season.
