Fear Grips Isiolo After Deputy Head Teacher Murdered, Motorcycle Stolen

Residents of Isiolo are on edge following the brutal murder of Mr. William Mwangi Gitobu, deputy principal at Leparua Secondary School. 

His body was found dumped by the roadside on the outskirts of town after he was attacked while riding his motorcycle from work in the Burat area.

Witnesses reported that unknown men confronted Gitobu, stabbed him multiple times, and fled with his motorcycle. 

Police confirmed that the body bore deep stab wounds to the chest and ribs and was taken to Isiolo mortuary for autopsy as detectives pursue leads. No arrests have been made so far.

The killing has sparked grief and outrage among family, colleagues, and students, who described Gitobu as a dedicated educator whose life was tragically cut short. 

The school community and relatives have urged law enforcement to act swiftly and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Authorities have noted a disturbing rise in motorcycle theft in the region, often involving violent attacks on riders. 

Police continue to advise motorcycle users to prioritize safety and cooperate with attackers to avoid fatal confrontations.
