Cate Waruguru has spoken out following the parallel political rallies held on Sunday, February 15, 2026, by rival factions within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
On one side, Senator Edwin Sifuna led his allies in a rally in Kitengela, while on the other, ODM Party Leader Dr. Oburu Odinga presided over a separate gathering at Tononoka Grounds in Mombasa. The two events further exposed the deepening divisions within the party.
In a post shared on her official social media accounts, Waruguru claimed that the faction led by Oburu Odinga was more focused on protecting political interests than representing ordinary citizens.
She also suggested that some leaders were surprised by Sifuna’s ability to draw large crowds, as witnessed in Kitengela.
According to Waruguru, the Kitengela rally was more than just a political meeting—it was a strong signal about the country’s political direction ahead of the 2027 General Election.
She added that political pressure in the country is intensifying and argued that calls for President William Ruto to serve a single term are gaining momentum.
Her remarks triggered mixed reactions online, with supporters and critics flocking to her Facebook page to share their views.
Some commenters interpreted the events as an early sign that the 2027 political contest is already taking shape.
As internal tensions continue within ODM and national political alignments shift, the parallel rallies and reactions from leaders like Waruguru underscore the evolving dynamics shaping Kenya’s political landscape.
