Behind the Scenes: Edwin Sifuna and His Wife Didi Wamukoya’s Private Life

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, ODM Secretary-General, is widely known for his outspoken political persona, but his private life remains largely private, particularly his marriage to Didi Wamukoya.

Didi, a respected legal professional, was admitted to the bar in 2007 and has specialized in environmental law and wildlife justice.

She has held senior roles at the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) and the African Wildlife Foundation, serving as director of wildlife law enforcement in Africa. She is also an author on natural resource management and environmental justice in Kenya.

The couple met at the University of Nairobi, where they were classmates. They married in 2010 after reconnecting, despite Didi initially turning down Sifuna’s advances.

Didi comes from a political family; she is the daughter of the late Joseph Wamukoya, former Matungu MP and assistant minister during Daniel arap Moi’s administration.

Together, the couple has a daughter and maintains a private family life, rarely appearing in public outside major events, including Sifuna’s senatorial certificate ceremony in 2022.

The profile of Didi highlights the blend of political and professional influence in their household while underscoring their deliberate efforts to keep personal life away from the political spotlight.
