Bomet Senator Hillary Sigei has outlined plans for the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) National Executive Council (NEC) meeting, scheduled for Wednesday, January 14, 2026, following the completion of the party’s grassroots elections.
Speaking on a local TV station on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, Sigei explained that the party is reviewing the outcomes of elections conducted across 20 UDA zones.
The NEC meeting will formally validate these results and confirm the delegates—20 per polling station—who will progress to the ward level. From there, they will elect another 20 delegates at the sub-county level, leading up to the county-level selections.
“This process demonstrates that even as the ruling coalition, UDA values full participation and involvement of members at every level,” Sigei said.
He added that, similar to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), UDA is engaging in discussions about pre-coalition agreements with other parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party is exploring ways to broaden political alliances while continuing to deliver services to Kenyans.
Sigei emphasized that ongoing discussions focus on strengthening party formations, incorporating new political actors, and ensuring commitments to the public remain central to their planning.
The announcement follows the grassroots polls held across most UDA zones, with the exception of Mbeere North Evore Ward and Muminji Ward, where nominations are planned ahead of by-elections scheduled for February 26, 2026.
President William Ruto also took part in the grassroots elections, casting his vote at Koilel Primary School in Uasin Gishu County.
