President Ruto Pledges Extra Support to Woman Entrepreneur at Kisii Nyota Fund Event

Kisii, Kenya – President William Ruto has promised additional support to a woman entrepreneur during a Nyota Fund distribution event held at Gusii Stadium in Kisii County, after she fell to her knees pleading for assistance.

The woman, whose name has not been disclosed, shared her struggles with the audience, explaining that she had previously operated a clothing business but was forced to close it due to financial difficulties.

She later planned to sell t-shirts and school uniforms but abandoned the venture after most students returned to school, rendering the business unviable.

At the event, she initially intended to use the Nyota Fund to start a new clothing business focusing on apparel for newborn babies.

However, after receiving assurances of additional funding from President Ruto, she pitched an alternative idea—opening a laundromat in her village.

She explained that she had identified a gap in the local market for laundry services and wanted to serve her community while creating a sustainable business.

President Ruto responded positively to her proposal, promising extra support to help her realize her entrepreneurial vision.

The Nyota Fund, a government initiative aimed at empowering women, youth, and persons with disabilities, has played a key role in providing financial assistance and training to small-scale
entrepreneurs across Kenya.

This latest intervention in Kisii highlights the fund’s role in encouraging innovation and supporting local business solutions.
