In South Africa, there is growing outrage after a family came out to seek justice for their daughter, a female hawker, who was allegedly sexually assaulted by ten police officers inside a police cell.
The disturbing incident has shocked many people and raised serious concerns about abuse of power by those entrusted with law enforcement.
According to reports shared by the victim’s family, the police officers allegedly carried out the sexual assault while the woman was in custody.
Even more shocking, the officers are accused of recording the act and later sharing the video on social media.
The alleged recording has caused anger and pain among members of the public, with many calling it inhuman and disgraceful.
The family revealed that their daughter was arrested at around 9:00 PM on Friday. The officers allegedly claimed she was selling goods during prohibited hours.
Since she reportedly did not have money to secure her release, the officers allegedly decided to sexually abuse her in exchange for freedom. The family says the woman is now deeply traumatized and struggling emotionally.
Human rights groups have condemned the incident and are demanding a full investigation.
