Mukurwe-ini MP John Kaguchia has commended local police for apprehending a man suspected of killing Jane Wanjiru Mutahi and disposing of her body in a well in Ithanji Village, Thimu sublocation, Gikondi, in January 2025.
Reports indicate that Mutahi went missing on December 31, 2024, and her body was later found in a well the following day, January 1, 2025.
In a post on Facebook, MP Kaguchia confirmed the suspect’s arrest and said he is now awaiting prosecution at Mukurwe-ini Police Station.
“This man has been on the run for the past 12 months. I want to commend Mukurwe-ini Police for this arrest as it brings us closer to resolving yet another murder case targeting women in our area,” Kaguchia stated.
The MP also urged law enforcement to intensify efforts to apprehend other suspects wanted in several ongoing femicide and murder investigations.
Social media users expressed condolences to Mutahi’s family and friends while praising the police for their work in arresting the suspect, calling it a step toward justice and safety for women in the region.
