Chiki Kuruka and BienTalent manager Chiki Kuruka, partner to Sauti Sol lead singer Bien-Aimé Baraza, has spoken out against the persistent scrutiny surrounding her reproductive choices.
In a candid statement shared on Friday, Chiki described the societal obsession with women’s wombs as intrusive, disrespectful, and rooted in sexism.
She revealed that some social media commenters have gone as far as urging Bien to find another woman who could “produce” children, a notion she strongly condemned as dehumanizing.
“Unless we ourselves open up the forum for conversation, our bodies and our choices should not be public property,” Chiki asserted.
Chiki emphasized that a woman’s womb should remain off-limits to public interrogation, just like any other deeply personal aspect of life.
The couple, who have been together for 11 years and married since March 2020, have maintained a united front on family matters. Bien has previously shared that if they were blessed with a child, he would willingly pause his global music career to become a stay-at-home father, supporting Chiki in pursuing her professional goals.
By speaking out, Chiki joins a growing number of prominent Kenyan women challenging the societal “entitlement” over women’s bodies.
She reiterated that parenting is a personal choice and a full-time commitment that should never be dictated by external pressure or sexist expectations.
