On Thursday, Raila Odinga Junior strongly criticized Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga for trying to decide who can and cannot visit Raila Odinga's grave.
He said such actions go against what his late father stood for. According to him, Raila was a leader who believed in unity and inclusion, and no politician should make decisions that divide Kenyans.
Raila Junior added that all Kenyans have the right to visit the grave and pay their last respects, including those who were unable to attend the burial.
“Everyone is welcome, even to visit the family,” he emphasized, noting that honoring Raila’s memory should not be limited to a few people.
He further stated that the comments and actions by Gladys Wanga are not accepted by the Odinga family. Raila, he said, was a man of forgiveness and reconciliation, not hate or grudges.
“Our father always believed in bringing people together, not creating divisions,” Raila Junior reportedly said.
He concluded by saying that Kenyans should only trust information coming directly from the Odinga family.
Decisions regarding the grave and family matters are always made in line with Raila Odinga’s values and wishes, not contrary to them, as some ODM politicians claim.
The family urged all leaders and citizens to respect these decisions and honor the legacy of unity left behind by Raila Odinga.
