Gladys Wanga Breaks Silence With Powerful Message Ahead of Two-Day Planned Event in Homa Bay

According to available news sources, Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga has announced that all preparations are complete for the 2025 World Food Day celebrations to be held at the Kendu Bay ASK Showground.

The two-day event will take place on Monday and Tuesday and will bring together national leaders, farmers, and stakeholders from across the country to reflect on the importance of food security and sustainable agriculture.

Governor Wanga said that Homa Bay County is ready to host visitors from different parts of Kenya as the nation comes together to mark this important global occasion.

She noted that the theme for this year’s celebrations, “Hand in Hand for Better Foods and a Better Future,” is a strong reminder of the need for unity and cooperation in building a peaceful, sustainable, and food-secure world.

The governor emphasized that World Food Day provides an opportunity to celebrate the hard work of farmers while also discussing ways to improve food systems and tackle challenges such as hunger, poor nutrition, and the effects of climate change.

She encouraged Kenyans to come out in large numbers to learn, share ideas, and support initiatives that promote healthy and sustainable diets.

During the celebrations, several activities have been planned, including exhibitions by farmers, agribusinesses, and food industry experts. These exhibitions will showcase innovations and technologies that can help improve food production, reduce post-harvest losses, and encourage smart farming practices.

There will also be discussions on empowering women and youth in agriculture and promoting environmental conservation.

Governor Wanga added that Homa Bay County is proud to host the event, which aligns with its goal of strengthening food production and improving nutrition among residents.

She expressed confidence that the 2025 World Food Day celebrations will inspire communities to work together towards ending hunger and ensuring that every household in Kenya has access to safe and nutritious food.
