Former Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC) acting CEO, Patricia Terer Ondeng’, has landed a new role in government.
She has been appointed as the Secretary for Public Communication in the Ministry of Information, Communication and Digital Economy. In this position, she will work under Broadcasting PS Stephen Isaboke.
Ondeng’ received her appointment letter from the Public Service Commission on Monday. However, she will officially report to her new office after two weeks because she is currently attending a government training program at the National Defence College in Karen.
Before this appointment, Ondeng’ was serving as the Corporate Communication and Marketing Manager at the Tourism Fund. She also once held the position of Acting CEO at KICC between December 2022 and March 2024, when she returned to her former employer after the board did not confirm her.
During her time at KICC, she was praised for leading the organisation to growth, including a 17% rise in revenue compared to the second half of 2022.
The Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK) congratulated her, saying:
“We celebrate your remarkable achievement as a PRSK member. Keep soaring and shaping narratives that inspire.”
Ondeng’ has a long career in public service. She joined the government in 1993 as a personal secretary in the Ministry of Health, later worked as an administrative assistant in Rift Valley province until 2005, before moving to the Tourism Fund, where she steadily rose through the ranks.
Her latest appointment comes as a relief after missing out on confirmation as KICC boss despite going through a competitive recruitment process.
